Abstract

This paper evidences the similarities and differences between French and Brazilian historiography of sports, based on the book “Histoire du sport”, written by French sports historian Thierry Terret. This book analyzes French sports historiography, allowing a comparison with the Brazilian context. In conclusion, the article points out that, although there are many proximities between both realities, there is also some distance between both contexts, mainly due to the specific logics that each nation acquired.
