Abstract

This work analyzes, in comparative key, two strikes in the fishing industry, developed during the first decade of 2000 in Argentina: one that occurred in 2005, in the northeast of Chubut, and other developed in 2007, with focus on the city-port of Mar del Plata. This proposes a comparative view of the two key territories of fishing activity in Argentina: the Buenos Aires and Patagonian coast. The article describes both conflicts, focusing on three ports from Argentina (Mar del Plata, Madryn and Rawson) and on the dynamics of the working class grouped around the fishing industry, in its different fractions. The regional configuration of various workers' claims is revealed, as well as the alliances built with their respective employers.
